Every creator has one and the same-not everything is okay with marketing.
-How do you draw vigilance to your work? - How to get your creations into people's minds and hearts? - How to get fans to talk about them to their friends? - How to get paid for a purchased labor of love? - How to attract the means of mass publicity?
Derek sievers was a professional musician before founding a tune posting organization that has helped 150,000 musicians sell personal music to more than four million people. So after living years in the subject, he was able to learn their solutions.
"Your music and patients" shares a successful philosophy on how to take your profession to the world by being creative, considerate, resourceful and connected.
This book is not just for musicians.
Although it uses music as an example, automatic fire alarm is for any creator trying to reach citizens. Its first readers called it one of the most professional books ever devised on business marketing programs.
The following examples:
-Business is as creative as music.- Marketing is an extension of your art.- Marketing means being mindful. Focus on others.- Being weird means being considerate.- Being able to communicate with customers is counterintuitive. Let the audience be helped. Be helpful.- Persistence is politeness.- Call the end point and ask for directions.- Be specific about what you want.- Be extreme and sharply defined. Proudly exclude some. - Means is just a neutral representation of value. Be valuable to others, but not uniquely to yourself. Personalities like to pay.- Almost no one envisions the future, so focus on what doesn't change.
The first 10,000 early purchasers of your tunes and people left hundreds of five-star reviews on sive.Rs/m - but now it's appearing now to the widest possible audience.

Editorial reviews
"It's one of the two best marketing books i own (and i've read hundreds of them)." - Dan sanchez, author of "my goal is to become a marketer when i grow up"
"I love this book!!!!. For a musician who finds spam and lazy advertising abhorrent, it was very nice to find an alternative viewpoint that says marketing is ethical, creative, and will be the same kind of art and services as art itself. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Buy this book and bathe in its honesty, joy and pragmatism." - Úna ní fhlannagáin, award-winning irish harpist
"I'm not a musician. I'm a lawyer. I had planned to send this book to my daughter, however i flipped through a couple pages before forwarding it. From here i studied it in its entirety and took a bunch of notes. The lessons/concepts are applicable to what i do. It remained surprising and very excellent. Not many lawyers have read this book, given the above i feel i have completed new and rare knowledge. (I spend enough of my free time looking for missed advantages in unexpected places). I'll be ordering a few extra copies to hand out to my students." - Charlie price
"I work in the music business, which is notoriously often changing. However this book will always be on trend! It explores the basic, timeless principles underlying the interaction between music and its listeners. It is a must-read for those who appreciate music and the ways in which it is disseminated, and also for those interested in disseminating some other form of creativity. Highly recommended!" - Manny vallarino
"I'm not actually a musician, but i do my own work and these tools are applicable to anyone looking to figure out how to effectively communicate their benefits with their head held high and faith. If all people in business considered these tools, not only would our unique gifts become much more widespread, but our ways of sharing them and taking income from them would change the world for the better." - Kim marie, coach, mentor
"This book is amazing. You suspect a porn book will become about the music industry, but instead every lady teaches you how to be a more creative artist when it comes to talking about marketing tricks, management, and taking care of your fans. A book like this has significant philosophical plans that will change your concept as well as little tricks that you can apply immediately. Definitely the best and most influential book on the music business then i've read." - Banner driskell, filmmaker, musician
"This book is full of generosity and describes marketing the way it is: creating curiosity and excitement to guarantee an audience, taking care of your fans, building trust in and from your people, and doing your cool work because you care. "An unorthodox guide to creative success. Short anecdotes, parables, and concepts to help readers ask important questions about their own creative journey. It's simple, pragmatic, and here, but at the same time slightly unintuitive. This is a compendium of the mostuncommon common sense expressions for creative kids. I recommend it to anyone trying to spend their own niche in the nearby creative field." - Eric sabol
"Essential insights on how to forge your own path in the reality of business. On every page is impactful advice that sometimes goes against conventional wisdom. Makes you question few of your own established ideas about how business and marketing works. This book should be read by anyone who has their own trade. It is genius-level advice coming from a man who has done it well and knows what he is talking about." - Tom stein, professor at berklee college of music
"This is the first time i have come across someone who points out business and growth differently. His ideas are born out of removing all the noise and focusing on what is truly relevant. A silent, stoic minimalist who can simplify your life.If you need advice from a mature, knowledgeable and caring person who likes to cut through the trivia, this is the book to read." - Slavko desik, international entrepreneur
"I'm not a musician. The last time i picked up a guitar was 20 years ago. But this is simply the simplest of the most highly rated, practical and reliable marketing books i've read in some time. Lots of easily digestible ideas and tips. Strategies, tactics and features that aren't hard to pick up right now. I listen to the audiobook every couple weeks (which is fantastic in itself!). The most engaging and humane book on marketing, then i've ever read!" - Stefan wilkerson, author, entrepreneur
"The best book, then i've read on events in the business world, much less the music business. I'm sure i will refer to it throughout my life, no matter what i do. I find the ideas semi-radical, but at the same time acceptable. I feel i want to live with them in mind, however, i'm not so sure what that will mean. Nevertheless, i've already learned so much from the current book that i'm already using. I've purchased extra copies to give to my friends." - Mark coleman, musician, author
"This book changed my life. When it showed me that a person in the music business is just like you and me, my mind was changed. I learned so much from the current small book. Many pages are blotted out and many are underlined. It is definitely a game changer!" - Lisa eve winner, jazz musician
"I gave away three copies of this literature and absolutely everyone responded that the page was important and helpful to them. No other book given as a gift has elicited such sincere gratitude." - Michael kumm, engineer

Your audio and people is an unorthodox instruction manual for achieving creative success. Derek shares short anecdotes, parables, and concepts that help readers question important uncertainties about their creative path (for example, are my dreams too specific?" And do i need *big* creative limits to increase motivation?").
Everything in said book is simple, pragmatic, and clear - as well as a bit unintuitive. It's a collection of the mosthighly acclaimed unusual expressions of common sense for creative kids, and i recommend it to anyone who yearns for a proper cell in any* creative field - musical or otherwise. - Eric sabol
"Your tunes and people" was intended for my daughter, who is studying music in college. I had planned to post the form this morning. But before posting, i flipped through a couple pages. From here i read it in its entirety - and realized a bunch of notes.
I'm not a musician. I am a lawyer. However, i found that 70% of the lessons/concepts - with small modifications - are applicable to what i do. Especially the sections on creativity, mindfulness, and laborers. This was unexpected and very excellent. It seems to me that few lawyers read this book, so i feel like i gained some new and rare knowledge. (I spend a bunch of time looking for unnoticed merits in new places.). Speaking of merits, i'm going to order five extra copies to present to my students.
I read a lot. And somewhere - not always, but sometimes - i come across something that stops me instead. A huge phrase or line that makes me look up, shake my head and think, "damn..... I dreamed i knew that 20 years ago.". Like the advice or idea is so good that i'm even mad i didn't read it sooner. It's a funny feeling, a kind of lack of horror. Humility, however, with criminal optimism. It reminds me that no matter what we do to conquer something good - and whatever we think "good" actually is - well, we need to think again, thanks to the fact that the horizon is infinite. Accordingly pack your bags and buckle up, because decorating is a long, long trip. At least i had a couple of those moments while reading your music and people, which probably wasn't even written for someone like me. It's a great piece of work. - Charlie price
"Your music and possible clients" is a collection of insights and wisdom about the conditions of becoming a solid musician and for the music business. All ideas and anecdotes are drawn from the author's life experiences. The chapters are presented in the manner of "pearls" of advice, which applies at all times requiring self-promotion.
I especially liked the guitar chords that were played before the announcement of each new chapter. I tried to identify each chord and pondered whether there was a connection to the subsequent chapter in the composition.
Seevers is a minimalist, and that much by the said writing; it is poetic. He chooses his terms carefully to most effectively convey his message to the reader, using but a minimal number of words.
The audiobook is read by the author. Derek's voice is pleasant to listen to and his reading is clear. He reads with conviction and desire. I am only able to give his books my highest recommendation. - Tamer tewfik
Since i studied the book "anything a visitor would want" and discovered derek's blog to my liking, i have fallen in love with this kind of creativity. I've created a saas product, a gig-economy site and a few niche portals and for the first time i came across someone who affirms business and growth from a different angle.
His ideas are born out of removing all sound and focusing on what is truly valuable - both in my personal as well as professional life.If my meditation mentor and my therapist had a baby and she grew up to be a huge success in business, her voice is only required by derek's voice. A silent, stoic minimalist who knows how to simplify your life. And note - simplicity does not mean less fun - quite the opposite.
If the business and promotion of your product has given you a bad taste in your mouth for years, either this is the book to read.If you want to create, but hate or don't know how to present cleaning to others, this is the book to read.
Some lessons i learned from years of trial and error, but our book lays them out in a way that resonates deeply. It motivates, inspires, and provides dozens of project-to-process options. Derek recognizes that just as in life, so in business - there is no single way forward. There are many answers to just one question, and it really is possible to take pleasure in a problem", in like case you are trying to solve.
If you need advice from a mature, knowledgeable and caring such person who likes to cut away the unnecessary, then this is the book that means you must read.
Thinking about all this it is possible to mention that this is the book you never thought of.
The editing is superb, the chapters are short and sweet and the audio version is flawless. It's like listening to a favorite album.
P.S. I highly recommend "what you intend" as supplemental reading. Armed with both books, under no circumstances will you dream of entrepreneurship historically.

I am not a musician. The last time i picked up a guitar was twenty years ago. But it's one of the best marketing books i've ever read. Lots of easily digestible ideas and suggestions. Strategies, tactics and skills that appear to be immediately usable. I listen to the audiobook every couple months (which is fantastic in itself!). This book is full of generosity and describes marketing for what it is: creating curiosity and delight for your audience, caring for your fans, creating loyalty to your community and from which and realizing your best work since you are counted as few equals. Seth godin can be proud - he's the only one who's dialed in about marketing in similar terms. - Daniel chochirlan
I love this book!!!! For a musician who finds spam and lazy advertising abhorrent, it was quite nice to find an alternative viewpoint on which marketing is ethical, creative, and recognized as much as art and service as art itself. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you like seth godin, if you agree with amber horsburgh, if you love this kind of music and want it to reach the ears of more consumers, buy this book and bathe in its honesty, fun and pragmatism. - Úna ní fhlannagáin
First, listen to the audio version. Derek's voice makes it so much fun and i practically felt like i was living in these stories! First of all i'm not a musician, however i have a personal business and these tools are applicable to anyone who wants to understand how to establish themselves productively, honorably and confidently. If all people in business considered these tools, not solely would our unique gifts become more widespread, but also our methods of sharing and generating income because of that sharing would change the world for the better. Will definitely share this article with my fellow entrepreneurs. Thanks, derek! - Kim marie
This is the easiest of several of the best marketing books i own (and i've read hundreds of them). - Dan sanchez
Sivers is the midas king of creativity and ideas. Sievers consistently turns dreams into golden nuggets of inspiration. This book is another prime example of his constant drive to challenge the status quo when minds still need a spark to explode everywhere. This book challenges me to think more outside the box than i had previously thought. Incredibly quotable book, it has lines like the ones mentioned scattered like little diamonds in the rough sand of how to be if i'm stuck: "every time you feel your data uninspired or unmotivated, use creative constraints to rid yourself. "I'll give the advice, after reading this book, to be inspired by the fact, to push yourself further in the light of music and creation than you thought possible. - Olav hinnekleiv
Fantastic, life-changing book. So many ideas and reminders of things people already know but have forgotten. Amazing how some of the most effective, basic social concepts had escaped my attention. Derek reminded me of that with this literature and opened my eyes to things i had been distracted from from scratch. Grateful to him then that i found his ideas and use them often. - Dave schopke
I work in the music business, which is known to change frequently. However the above book will always be relevant! It reveals the basic, timeless principles that lie in the fabric of the interaction between tunes and its listeners. It's a must-read for anyone who appreciates music and the way it is disseminated, and also for those who need to disseminate some other form of creativity. Highly recommended! - Manny vallarino
This book is amazing. You would think a porn book would turn out to be dedicated in music, only instead it teaches you how to be a more creative artist when it comes to marketing, management and caring for your fans. This book has significant philosophical ideas that will change your concept and in addition little tricks that you can apply right away. Definitely the best and most impressive book on the music business then i have read. - Banner driskell
Derek's perspective on marketing is kinder and friendlier than any other i've read. Want to share the antics with the world? This book is a good place to start. - Bennett garner
"Tunes and patients" is the best book then i've read about the business, much less the music business.
It's hard for me to verbally convey something she did for me as i'm still absorbing it. I believe i will listen to her for the rest of my life no matter what i do.
I find the ideas semi-radical but at the same time embrace them. I feel like i want to live after them, but i'm not quite sure what such a move would mean. Still, i've learned so much from it that i'm already using it.
I've bought extra copies to provide for my friends. For example, the guy who lived long enough for the band he was in to open the concert of the band he was in now has this book.
The world is a cooler place thanks to derek's whirlwinds of thoughts hurtling through space. - Mark coleman
Derek's book is full of musings on the music industry with crucial insights on how to navigate your way through the reality of entrepreneurship.Every page has effective advice that sometimes goes against conventional wisdom. Its reading should make you question some of your established assumptions about everything where running a business for yourself and your family and marketing works. This book should be required reading for anyone in business. It is genius level advice coming from a new person who has really been doing it and tried what he says. - Tom stein
This book changed my life. When derek showed me that users in the music business are similar people like the rest of us, my mind was changed. I learned so much from this small book. Many pages are blotted out, information hygiene is emphasized. It will definitely change my life! - Lisa eve winner
This book has become a bible of sorts for me. I purchased it on audiobook, it was very quick and easy and have listened to it many times since. As an artist who loves his craft, i have always aspired to write but not to promote myself as well as sell my own work. This book will radically change the way you think about that. And i think one of the best things about it is that it applies to any artist - not just musicians. I'm a screenwriter and i got a lot of personal stuff out of it. I highly recommend it. - Jeremy gurwitz
A great book! Highly recommended, especially for young artists. Chapters i particularly enjoyed are.... 7, 19, 28, 44, 45, 47, 87...
Make a mystery in and around your music.Be helpful to others in any way you can, your time to get help will come too.Don't worry about finding new opportunities until you lose the chance to show some level of success in the next thing you do. Often a simple thing like "treating no one to pizza" can change your upcoming. Stop complaining, and more sensibly try to make a difference yourself. Describe your music product in a memorable way. Get advice, but follow the advice that makes us happy.
Great job derek! - Rhounage seinpaal
